Craig Walker

President WCH

I became involved in weightlifting in 1988 as a way of training for football, wrestling, and rugby, starting a journey that has taken me from Canada to Japan and back home again. For over 12 years, I have served in leadership roles with the Alberta Weightlifting Association and Weightlifting Canada. Beyond leading a push towards stronger operational foundations in our organizations, I am passionate about ethical sport and have been active in implementing effective anti-doping programs and policy initiatives to ensure athletes can develop in an environment that is safe and respectful. I currently serve on the Governance Committee of the Pan American Weightlifting Federation and work closely with our partners at the Canadian Olympic Committee, Sport Canada, and other national sport organizations to enhance our approaches to the governance of weightlifting in Canada.

I practice law in Calgary with a focus on infrastructure development, environment, and corporate transitions to new business models. Outside of my legal work and weightlifting, I spend time with my many pets and serve on various not-for-profit Boards.  It is an honour to serve this sport which has given me so much over the years.
