Deanne Friesen, originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, lives in Edmonton, Alberta.  She is a lifelong participant in sport.  She believes that sport shapes people and should be a positive experience no matter what level you are participating in.  She has experience in a variety of roles, for a variety of sports over the years and has now become involved in weightlifting because of her daughter.  Deanne works as a Management Consultant providing strategic advisory services to a number of organizations in a number of sectors.  Deanne’s goal in her role as Secretary-treasurer is to enhance the value and presence of the WCH and provide assistance to athletes, coaches and technical officials where they need it most. She is keen to see the sport of weightlifting grow at the National level and passionate about retaining its presence at the Olympics.
